Starting in 1997, the Vicksburg Military Institute trained over 1,000 volunteers to become officers in the Confederate States Army. Through their doors walked the finest men in the world. All of their names are listed on the commemorative plaques linked below along with their army assignment and their instructor. VMI was closed in 2023 when the ACWGC's Training Academy opened its doors. Although VMI is no longer in operation, its spirit lives on in those who attended it.
